  • Endless Summer In my teens, I was in a band called "The West Front," named after the street in Red Bank, NJ where we started playing live. Endless Summer is one of those songs that reminds me a lot about my youth living at the beach in New Jersey as well as playing together with the guys in my band at Jersey Shore bars. The yrics start at the end of Labor Day Weekend, as a reflective close to the summer. School kids are trying to cling onto carefree summer in one last weekend of friends and family before being cooped-up in classrooms for the next 3/4 of the year. By the end of the summer, Christmas lights have already popped up, where has all the time gone? Grey skies and cold become the regular as summer seems extraordinary by now. There are also lyrical allusions to a summer time relationship, one that is also carefree and even idealistic, just like summer-time living. More generally, anyone who feels that slight wave of melancholy towards the close of Labor Day weekend can appreciate the context of this song. We don't want to say goodbye to summer, but we know this season is always the most cherished for a variety of reason. As we get older and out of school, summer becomes more mixed in with the routine year, but we can always daydream back to that Endless Summer .
